What is Western Astrology?
The astrology which is popularly practised in western countries is called Western Astrology. It is originally based on Ptolemy’s Tetrabiblos which is ancient text on astrology written in 2nd century AD by a scholar Claudius Ptolemy. Western Astrology is based upon the Tropical Zodiac, in which the beginning of the first sign of Aries is determined by the Sun's apparent orbit around the Earth. Western astrology also considers the outer planets viz. Uranus and Neptune, earlier Pluto was also considered but not nowadays.
Importance of Western Astrology
Although Vedic Astrology is much more authentic yet importance of Western astrology can be attributed to two main considerations the first is narrow orbs of 10 degree for aspects of planets on other planets resulting in greater accuracy.
Second factor which lends it importance is the Synastry for determining compatibility between partners; consideration of planets in each other’s charts with their inter-aspects for assessing compatibility gives it a unique importance.
